Sponsor a Child's Education in Uganda

Helping Hands’ friends help one child at a time

Education is one of the paths out of poverty but it is blocked for many children whose families struggle to survive. We want to begin to help 30 of the most vulnerable children access education by finding individuals and families who would like to open up this pathway for them for only 70 pence a day. Our aim is to prepare these boys and girls so that they can start school in January 2012.

What does it mean to be a 'Friend'?

At its most simple, it means that you would commit to supporting one child for a minimum of one year and that wherever possible you would not stop your support in the middle of their school year. However, you can give and get so much more out of being a friend than that.

If you wish, you can choose to write to your child twice a year and hear back from them as well as receiving an official update on them and their family. It may even be possible for you to visit them on one of our trips!

What does your support do?

  1. It provides school fees, lunch, a new school uniform, books and pencils.
  2. Free healthcare, health education and a mosquito net.
  3. Regular family visits.
  4. Opportunities to learn about and experience God’s love in school and church.

What do I do?

Download the Friend’s Form, fill it in and send it to the office. We match children that we know need support with new friends as they come along. Once we have done this we will send you a pack to introduce you to the child whom you are helping and we will suggest ways in which to get the most out of your new friendship. If you have any further questions you can contact us at the office.
