Helping Hands feeds starving families until harvest in Uganda

384 families for dinner for 3 months!

The combination of a drought and the rising costs of food across the globe have meant that some of our more vulnerable families have been suffering. Food was out of reach in terms of cost and because the harvest would be months late. Joy first noticed a decline in some of the children’s health and on further investigation she discovered that they had no food left and no money to buy any.

God’s heart is always to care for each one of us and so we began an emergency feeding programme for the families most at risk. Thanks to many of our friends we have been able to feed 384 families since April. Now their own harvest is coming in and so they will begin to feed themselves once more.

One elderly gentleman we have been helping was surviving by foraging for fruit and edible leaves. He was a walking skeleton when we met him and now is able to smile again as he knows that he has a future. Many mothers told us in May that their children may have died but for our intervention.
