A Royal celebration of six years in Uganda with HRH The Earl of WessexOn Thursday 24th June HRH The Earl of Wessex KC KGVO attended a “Celebration of Communities” at Cumnor Primary School in Oxfordshire with Helping Hands. Debbie, the Founding Director, was privileged to introduce His Royal Highness to many of the UK Team, local friends and lots of the children who have become involved with one of our Ugandan schools. The Lord Lieutenant of Oxfordshire, Tim Stevenson, welcomed HRH to the county as the youngsters sang an African Greeting Song courtesy of Cathie Jones. After meeting the High Sheriff, the Chairman of the County Council, the local MP and Head teacher it was time to start greeting the children! The Earl of Wessex was so friendly and encouraging to everyone. Some of the classes were treated to a visit by HRH who was keen to find out how the Helping Hands’ link had affected them as individuals and their education. Guests from the local community and Local Education Authority mingled with the Helping Hands’ UK Team and some of our friends from around Oxfordshire before they too had a chance to meet HRH. We had a very special day in which we celebrated six special years with thousands of wonderful children. His Royal Highness congratulates you all on everything you have achieved so far and wishes Helping Hands every success in the future. Congratulations for all that you are doing – it seems that Helping Hands is going from strength to strength. You too can get involved.
