Our Area
Helping Hands works in the Kamuli District of Uganda. It is a rural area in one of the most beautiful and friendly countries that you could ever visit. Uganda is making its way up the development ladder slowly. However, if you are born there you are still 22 times more likely to die before you are five and if you survive you can expect to live at least 30 years less than a UK resident. Kamuli is the fourth poorest of the 77 districts in Uganda. Poverty, illiteracy and disease make normal life in Kamuli hard for around 600,000 people...
* almost one in five children die before their 5th birthday

* no-one has running water in the villages
