Our WorkEXTENDWhere we work AIDS Malaria Hygiene School Lessons Celebrate 2009 Look at 2008 UK Schools
|
Extending to help more children"EXTEND" is a new initiative for 2010. Through EXTEND we plan to help a further 2000 children by setting up simple healthcare programmes in three more schools in Jinja District and amongst the youngest children on Lingira Island. Our initial focus will be on malaria as this is the biggest threat these vulnerable children face. Peace is one of the livelier little girls I have met in Uganda. It would be hard to imagine her sick with malaria but the truth is that without simple health interventions like nets and quick treatment children like Peace get sick. Sometimes they die simply because no-one knows what to do. We are reaching out into areas where we know that we can make a real difference – areas where small communities rely on small projects to make a big impact. Thanks to KPMG and Church Relief International we already have funding to provide most of the children with their own net. So it remains for us to raise the funds needed to run these programmes, ensuring that the children both understand why a net is important and how to use it. To this end we are inviting our friends to consider supporting EXTEND through a monthly gift of £10 or more. You can download our designated gift form here. Thank you.
